Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology® (EPAT)
“I Can’t Thank You Enough.”
“After I left your office today, I felt as if my lungs had more capacity. My head just felt better and clearer. I just got back from playing squash and beat my friend, who beat me last week. My lung capacity was amazing.
Haven’t felt this good in a long time… As you said, it’s a game changer. Thank you again, and I’ll see you next week.”
– L.L.
“Changed My Life”
“Just a quick note to say what a miracle your treatment with EPAT was for my frozen shoulder! After 18 months of trying EVERYTHING (physical therapy, cortisone shots, acupuncture, and more) I found you!
EPAT changed my life as I knew it! After 3 treatments my mobility improved by 50% and after 5 treatments I was back to playing golf and working out regularly.
When frozen shoulder hit my other shoulder, I knew where to turn and my recovery was short.
Thank you for everything!”
– Charlotte Morello
EPAT® has truly been a game changer.
By adding or, in some cases, wholly replacing older therapeutic approaches we’re now healing certain conditions in a fraction of the time it used to take, and with little or no discomfort. Being able to leverage my experience with the precision and effectiveness afforded by EPAT® therapy is consistently producing extraordinary results across of wide range of chronic and acute injuries.”
– Dr. Brian Nathanson, DC
Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology or EPAT®, is an FDA approved technology that delivers high energy sound waves to a localized area.
These acoustic waves effectively produce pressure pulses that penetrate deep though soft tissue and in the process, effectively break up scar tissue and adhesions, stimulate blood flow to injured areas and accelerate the healing process.
EPAT® effectively treats a wide range of chronic and acute injuries including, but not limited to: Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, Tennis Elbow, Shoulder Tendonitis, Muscle Pain and Myofascial Trigger Point Conditions. EPAT® treatment is completely non-invasive, and performed right in the offices of New England Physical Care.
The EPAT® Therapy Process:
1) The first step in the process is a thorough evaluation of the affected area. When you schedule your initial consultation, we will ask that you bring all related medical records and prior treatment histories to your first appointment with Dr. Nathanson. It is critical that we get a complete picture of you, and an understanding of your unique situation before developing a treatment protocol.
2) For most patients, the initial consultation and assessment takes on average between 30 and 45 minutes. That said, we are exceptionally thorough in our approach, and our initial evaluation is critical to your ultimate success, so we do take as much time as is necessary to understand you and your condition.
3) Prior to the treatment sessions, and depending on your individual circumstance, you may be advised to discontinue certain medication in the period in advance of and immediately following EPAT® procedures. Also please note that individuals who have deep vein thrombosis, malignancies, or are on blood thinning medications may not be candidates for EPAT therapy, so please be sure to make Dr. Nathanson aware of these or similar medical conditions during your initial consultation. Women who are pregnant are not candidates for EPAT® therapy.
4) On the day of treatment we ask that, if possible, you wear loose fitting clothing. Treatment is similar to that used in an ultrasound in that, a gel is applied to the target area, and a soft applicator is used in a circular motion, applying light pressure to all aspects of the area. Treatments typically last between 15-20 minutes per region depending on the nature and extent of the injury or ailment.
Other Things to Know:
While some people experience pain relief after only one treatment, most patients report measurable pain remediation after three to five sessions. The number and frequency of total treatments varies according to the type and severity of condition being treated and, due to EPAT® treatments’ stimulation of the normal healing process, healing and the lessening of discomfort in many cases continues for up to four weeks after the last treatment.
The EPAT® process is simple, non-invasive, and the majority of patients return to their regular activities immediately following each treatment. If you are experiencing pain or chronic discomfort, even if you have tried other treatment option in the past, please contact to discuss your situation and see if EPAT® is the right solution for you.
Want to Get Rid of Cellulite? EPAT® Can Help!
Cellulite is a term used to describe the dimpled appearance of sub-cutaneous fat. It’s unflattering look is caused by the connective tissue that separates fat beneath the skin. These fibrous strands connect your skin to deeper tissue layers, creating compartments of ordinary fat cells. For women, this connective tissue structure is naturally formed in the shape of a honeycomb, which accentuates the dimpled appearance, while in men it is arranged in more of a uniform grid and is therefore not as noticeable.
Unfortunately, there are a number of factors, including genetics, water intake, exercise and diet, which affect the appearance and severity of cellulite. Because of this, sometimes changes in self-manageable factors do not yield the desired change to a smoother and more attractive appearance.
The Good News? EPAT® treatments can effectively reduce the appearance of cellulite.
EPAT® therapy can help mitigate the appearance and severity of cellulite in a number of ways. Through it’s non-invasive use of acoustic wave technology, EPAT® treatments cause increased blood flow, the activation of the metabolism, especially in the affected areas, as well as lipolysis – the breakdown of lipids (fats). This results in skin tightening, better skin structure and contour and natural body shaping. Aesthetic EPAT® regimens have proven exceptionally effective in targeting problem areas such as the upper arms, stomach, gluteal areas and thighs.
At New England Physical Care, we have achieved very good results, and at your request would be happy to make before and after photos of actual NEPC patients available, along with a complimentary initial consultation to determine whether aesthetic EPAT® therapy is the right choice for you.
